Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers’ Association expects the price of latex examination gloves to increase sharply from US$7 to US$9 with certain types of gloves even higher. Increase in manufacturing costs, fuel prices, packaging and electricity are all contributing factors. Article reported by The Edge Daily. Now should I ask if we need a U.S. source for rubber?

Thanks for sharing this news.
I read that the glove manufacturers are threatening to cut production if they don’t get the price increases they’re proposing because they need these to cover their own increased input costs.
These include natural gas, natural rubber latex, nitrile latex, electricity, petrol, diesel, chemicals, packaging, transportation, and labor.
So either way, prices will rise — from scarcity if they cut back production or from the proposed increase if they maintain production but recover their costs.
